Just a Regular Day... - January 13, 2011

What a quiet day!
When our little seedlings were together this Thursday there was a general sense of ease and calmness about the 14 kids that were present. What a pleasant way to spend the morning while singing, playing,
and going about our regular routine with our friends!

Back in the swing of things! - January 6, 2011

After a couple weeks away from our group, our Little Seedlings rejoined today for the first time in the new year and got back to routine! We played, sang, ate, and learned about God’s judgement on the people of Babel.

As wonderful as the Christmas season is, there is always some kind of anticipation to return to “normal” life, and our Little Seedlings were very happy to be together once again!

Christmas Party - December 16, 2010

This week was the last time our Little Seedlings will be getting together for the year 2010, and what better way to commemorate it than by celebrating the birth of our Lord! We cut out some cookies, made block towers, heard the story of the first Christmas, sang songs of worship, and ended the morning with a pizza party and decorating cookies!
Little Seedlings will start up again in the New Year, so we wish you a blessed season filled with joy, peace, and hope that can only be found in Jesus!

Merry Christmas!

Fun, with a chance of Flurries! - December 9, 2010

This morning found our little Seedlings enjoying the warmth of the church basement and and the time shared with friends! We made snowflakes to hang on our Christmas trees at home with plenty of sparkles on our craft, in our hair, and on the floor!

Unfortunately, I brought my digital camera to take some pictures of the kids, but left the battery in the charger at home, but thankfully had the video camera on hand and ready to go! Next week there will be a little Christmas video with clips of this week, as well as our Christmas pizza party next week!

Busy morning-December 2, 2010

There was still lots of time for play before and after our craft time.

We have been using a line on the dividers to dry our works of art.

All of the Little Seedlings worked on this mosaic to create a rainbow mural. I think everyone enjoyed working together and this is our finished product. It's from a few weeks ago but we finally managed to get a picture of it.

Christmas Crafts

Our friends made Christmas wreaths this morning out of foam. They are really enjoying making things and the messier the better. Glue and glitter are our best friends!
We also made angels that were decorated with feathers. Once again the glitter came out!

Splish, Splash! - November 11, 2010

Today we learned about Noah's ark, and what better way to relate to the flooding of the earth than the small flooding of the gym floor while the kids played with the water table! What a treat!
We also made poppies to honour the soldiers who fought for our freedom so that we can gather together to worship God without any fear or reservation! For this freedom, we say thank you!

Lost Keys

Cynthia lost her car keys this morning. Can you all please check your pockets, boots, etc. to see if they are there. This is the only one they have so it's pretty important.

Help needed for this week's Mothers Market

Hey gang!

We still need help for this week's Mothers Market.

Set up is 7 p.m. Friday night at West Arthur Community Centre.

We can really use help putting away the tables at noon on Saturday.

If you can help out that would be great.

We also need help carrying in stuff for the vendors Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

If you can commit to a whole morning, that's OK too. You can come when you are able.

Thanks a bunch!

Linda

Fun at the Farm! - October 21, 2010

This Thursday morning took our Little Seedlings on a field trip to the Veurink Farm to revel in the crisp autumn air and enjoy some of God’s wonderful creation: from bouncing on hay bails, to petting the ponies, to enjoying the fellowship of our friends!

Thanks, Katarina, for the beautiful pictures!

Man, Woman, and Applesauce! - October 14, 2010

Nothing says “Autumn” like making applesauce on a cold and dreary fall morning! Our 15 Little Seedlings loved helping to cut the apples and enjoyed a cupful of warm and tasty applesauce after their playtime and lessons.

This morning we learned about God creating man and woman in his image, thanks to the help of our wonderful teachers and Mr. Potato head! The kids love to sing the worship songs and are getting pretty good at the action songs and keeping a good rhythm with the instruments!

Up and Running! - October 7, 2010

The 2010-2011 Little Seedlings season is up and running! After a very encouraging first week with some new and some familiar faces, we had an astounding 18 kids show to our second week and first "regular" morning. The kids had a wonderful time (as usual) and studied the first lesson in the Generations of Grace curriculum, and what better place to start than "in the beginning"? Check out www.generationsofgrace.com for more info on the lesson plans that we will be using this year.

A reminder to the parents that the duty schedule has been posted and that Moms (and Dads) are invited to remain in the church for some quiet time or meet in the JK/SK classroom where we will be reading "Power of a Praying Parent" together in a time of sharing.

Parents' meeting and play morning

We had 16 kids join us to play as their parents attended the information session to learn about Little Seedlings 2010-2011. We've had a couple of new families come and it's always nice to make new friends.

We'll see you next week when we start our year.

Making a joyful noise

This morning we had various special activities that each mom brought and Trudi brought her Karaoke machine. Here are a couple of our friends singing Jesus Loves Me. Click on the play button to see the video.

Little Seedlings on Location

Hi friends,
As the renos at the church are not quite completed, we will again be out & about!  This week (Apr. 29) we'll be at Centennial Park.  We'll have lots of time to play at the playground, visit the horses, play parachute, go for a short walk, and have a snack & lesson in the lodge.

Please dress warmly and bring along a snack to share.

See you then!

Celebrating Earth Day and God's Creation on Location!

Last week we went to one of our friends' homes as the renovations at the church were underway.  There were bubbles & sidewalk chalk, a swing, a slide & a trampoline, sand & trucks...

As it was Earth day, we celebrated God's creation by making our own planets (out of coffee filters and green & blue food colouring)
The kids (& parents) had lunch while Emily shared a story about Creation with the kids.
Then we cleaned up & took home our very tired Little Seedlings...

Thank you for sharing your home Petteplace family!

Even More Farm Fun!

Our trip to the Veurink's farm was such a fantastic time! Although the wind was chilly and we had to dig out our winter clothes again, the kids were troopers! The piglets were a hit, as were the calves and the multitude of hens. Some of the kids even helped collect freshly laid eggs and got to feel their warmth. After visiting all the barn animals, we went on a hay ride around the field.

Then, with the wood stove stoaked in the kitchen, we all warmed up with yummy snacks, hot chocolate and coffee... all included 22 children, 12 mothers/grandmothers, 2 helpers, Alice Marie & Isaac.

Then the kids headed to the back room to play.

Thank you once again Alice Marie (and Isaac!) for allowing us to share your beautiful farm and home for the morning! It was such a blessing :)
