Christmas party Dec. 11th

Bring along your favourite cookie cutters because we are making cookies. Linda is once again making her world famous (not quite) white cookies to ice and decorate. This will be our last day until January.

Playing Dress Up

The kids all enjoyed playing dress up this morning. Last year, the big kids would wear the costumes and the younger kids weren't interested at all. That has all changed now. Some of the costumes were interesting to say the least. The kids played together while wearing their costumes.

We had 8 kids this morning and there definitely was a lot of energy in the room. They are a great bunch of kids and all get along well.

Alissa is teaching the older group as well as leading the worship time before we leave for home.

We have a couple of dads that are helping out this year too and that has been great.

We continue to explore fall in the sensory area. This week there were leaves, pine cones and plastic bugs to check out.

Jess Armstrong has been a real asset to us this fall. She has been having a good time playing with the kids.

Playschool can get messy...

We encourage the children to learn through experience... sometimes, it gets messy. We started using homemade wipes with the kids to save on trips to the bathroom for hand washes. Here is the recipe. We've actually adopted it in our home as well (for bottoms, hands, faces, cleaning booster trays, dusting, etc.)

Take one roll of Bounty paper towel cut in half
Pull out the cardboard tube

1 Cup distilled water (boiled from kettle)
1 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp baby shampoo
4-5 drops Tea Tree oil (natural germ fighter)

Pour solution over the paper towels. Store in an airtight container or ziplock.
(an empty clean 2 kg peanut butter jar works well)

Pull from the middle.

Thanks Alicia!!

Sleeping Bunnies

This is one of the kids' favourite games/songs so we try to do it often. Here's how it goes, just in case you want to play too!!

"See the sleeping bunnies until it's nearly noon.
O how we'll wake them with our merry tune.
See how still.
Shhh
Are they ill?

Wake up sleeping bunnies.
HOP HOP HOP
Wake up sleeping bunnies.
HOP HOP HOP
Wake up sleeping bunnies.
HOP HOP HOP

AND stop."

Feel free to repeat using as many animals as your little one can think of!

The playschool wasn't able to meet at the church today so we headed off to Wiggles 'n Giggles for some inside fun.

Jammies Party!

We had a pajama party today at playschool to celebrate friendship (and, it's just fun to have a jammie day...why not share it with friends!)

Over the past couple of weeks, the children have learned that Jesus loves everyone, children included! Today they learned that Jesus is our friend through the story of Zaccheaus.

"Okay everyone, look to the left..." At least they're all looking in the same direction, even if it's not at the camera :)
